Travis Richins

Travis Richins is a musician and attorney with nearly two decades of legal experience, focusing on commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes, and trademark law. With a deep understanding of brand protection and enforcement, he helps businesses navigate the complexities of trademark registration, dispute resolution, and intellectual property strategy.

Before transitioning to a practice centered on trademark and intellectual property law, Travis handled high-stakes commercial litigation at Locke Lord, an Am Law 100 firm, where he represented clients across industries ranging from energy to financial services, as well as cases involving consumer protection. He later joined a boutique patent litigation firm, representing clients in federal courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), with some matters reaching the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

In addition to his commercial practice, Travis has advocated for civil rights, including representing a DACA recipient in a lawsuit challenging Fourth Amendment violations related to an ICE detention. The case resulted in a favorable settlement and a policy change by the county sheriff, strengthening protections for immigrant communities.
Travis’s approach is strategic and pragmatic, tailored to businesses ranging from startups to established companies looking to safeguard their brands. He guides clients through trademark prosecution, enforcement, and disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), helping them protect their most valuable assets.

In addition to his legal career, Travis is a lifelong musician and former orchestra teacher who continues to perform and teach music in Richmond.
